Bunnies is the most popular program on offer for the active 4 and 5 year old nordic skier. These young skiers are in the 'Active Start' stage of development and can mostly be found in the stadium enjoying games, stories and fun while learning basic ski skills. Occasionally these brave youngsters will venture as far as the gravel pit to take in the sunshine and maybe roast some marshmallows! Bunnies is a parent participation program and caregivers will have a great time joining in. Lessons are approximately one hour and are followed by cookies and drinks. Bunnies are invited to participate in all extra Skill Development Program events. This program fills up very fast so please register early to avoid disappointment.
**Please note that all particpants must be members of CNSC. This includes parents that will be attending with their child. **
Practice details are communicated using the SDP Calendar, located on the CNSC website under the Events tab. Please check for this calendar closer to the session start date, as it is still under development. Winter Training Sessions will be held at Otway Nordic Center unless otherwise noted.
Dress your bunny/bunnytot in layers with natural fibers next to their skin (ie. merino), merino socks, waterproof mitts, snowpants and jacket, and a toque that stays put! Avoid cotton at all costs. Also keep in mind the COLD WEATHER POLICY
The success of this program hinges on volunteer coaches and parent help in a variety of disciplines. For every child registered in the program, there is a need for volunteer help from at least one parent. Parents are encouraged to find a volunteer role that best suits their schedule, interest and abilities. The club requires both new and experienced coaches at various levels, so if you are interested in coaching and don’t want to coach your own child, that’s not a problem. We’ll help you find a suitable coaching role. The club provides coach training, and you provide your time and knowledge to develop future athletes. If you would prefer a volunteer task that does not involve coaching, fantastic! We’ve got tasks for you. Please complete the volunteer section on the Zone4 registration to identify your interests.
Registration opens late August on Zone4.ca and closes December 1
