Officials

Officials courses are offered annually through CCBC. Level 1 courses are scheduled annually for Prince George.

CCC OFFICIALS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

This program consists of five levels, from entry level to international level. It includes course conductor training, technical delegate training and event hosting as well as technical training.

Level 1

This course provides an overview of what a cross country ski competition is all about, the support structure that is required to carry out an event of this kind, and a basic understanding of what line officials are and the kinds of duties they perform. 10 hour course.

This 10 hour course focuses on the duties of the minor officials and administrative officials for both Olympic Style (individual start, mass start, pursuit start, relay start and sprints) and Loppet Style (mass participation) events. The course also provides a general background in cross country rules & regulations and race committee structure.

Level 2

This course provides technical training for major and secondary officiating roles. This training is a must for the Chief of Competition, Chief of Course, Chief of Timekeeping, Competition Secretary and Chief of Security at provincially sanctioned races and loppets.

The course focus is on the role of the Competition Committee. This includes all official race formats, both Olympic Style (individual start, mass start, pursuit start, relay start and sprints) and Loppet Style (mass participation) events; rule and regulations; rule interpretation; electronic timing and all aspects of the results system, and volunteer management. 16 hour course.

Level 3

The level 3 course is designed to prepare an official to (1) effectively structure, staff and manage a Competition or Event Committee at provincial through to national level events, (2) perform any .major official. role at the National Championship level, (3) perform the role of a provincial TD, and (4) be familiar with CCC and FIS rules and make appropriate rule interpretations as they apply to provincial level competitions. 3 day course.

Level 4 (course conductor)

This one day course provides course conductor training for the delivery CCC Officials Level 1 certification courses.

Level 4 (Technical Delegate)

This two day course provides training to prepare officials for the role of Technical Delegate or Technical Advisor up to and including national championships. The course focuses on the role of a Technical Delegate, the role of the jury, and rule interpretation. It also serves as an update course for active Technical Delegates or Technical Advisors.

Level 5 (International Technical Delegate)

Individuals are recommended by the national sport governing body.
