Cross Country Ski Lessons for Children
(ages 4 — 12)

WHAT?
Bunnies, Jackrabbits and Jackalopes are programs to introduce children to cross country skiing. The emphasis is on having fun while learning basic ski techniques. Follow the program link for more information.

2011 – 2012 Program Calendar
The Skill Development Program consists of Bunnies, Jackrabbits and Jackalopes. Bunnies is for children 4 and 5 years old, Jackrabbits is split into two age categories, Atoms 6 and 7 year olds and Peewees 8 and 9 year olds, Jackalopes is for children aged 10 through 12 years. All three programs are designed for children new to skiing all the way up to experienced skiers.
We offer two training sessions, participants can register for either Tuesday evenings or Saturday afternoons. There are also special events that may not fall on either of these days but all participants are invited to attend.
Tuesday sessions begin at 6:30pm and end at 7:15pm for Bunnies and 8pm for Jackrabbits and Jackalopes. Sessions begin January 3rd 2012 and continue every Tuesday up to and including the final training session on March 6th. All Tuesday participants are encouraged to attend the special events which may not fall on a Tuesday.
Saturday sessions begin at 1pm and end at 1:45pm for Bunnies and 2:30pm for Jackrabbits and Jackalopes. Sessions begin January 7th 2012 and continue every Saturday up to and includingn the final training session on March 10th. All Saturday participants are encouraged to attend the special events which may not fall on a Saturday.
Special events include sponsored Chocolate Races and Fun Day, all special events are listed in the calendar and we encouraged all children in the program to participate.
Any lesson cancellations will be documented on the club website. Our cold weather policy is to cancel lessons if the temperature is below -15C at 4:30pm on Tuesdays and below -16C at 11:30am on Saturdays.

Saturday afternoon lessons begin January 7, 2012, and are for 8 weeks (from 1:00-2:30 PM).

Registration for 2012 SDP (jackrabbits) opens October 3rd, 2011.
Please note that all program fees are subject to HST.

Children, or their families, must also become members of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club which is a separate cost.

CANCELLATION POLICY
For the safety of the participants, Jackrabbit classes will be cancelled if the temperature is colder than -15 degrees Celsius at 4:30 pm on the weather page of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club web site (link coming soon) on Tuesday afternoon and -16 degrees Celsius at 11:30am on Saturday morning.
REMINDERS
- Parents are reminded that skis and poles need to be labelled with your child's name.
- Tuesday evening lessons start at 6:30 pm. Saturday afternoon lessons start at 1 pm. Leaders leave with their classes at these times. If you arrive late, it may be difficult to find your class.
- Waxing: Leaders do not wax children's skis. Please be sure waxing is done before lessons begin.
- Rental skis for beginner Jackrabbits are available, please call the CNSC Office at 564-3809 for more information.
