Eight Session Skate Clinic – FASTER with TECHNIQUE

Description: This clinic will focus primarily on technique analysis with the goal of skiing quickly and efficiently through mixed terrain.  Also included will be training methods to improve strength, balance and endurance as well as some waxing techniques.

There will be a non- mandatory wax clinic held before one of the lessons.  It will be full participation so participants must have their own glide wax scraper, groove scraper, wax brush and glide wax to take part.  This clinic will cover basic waxing techniques, tips on ski maintenance and how to choose the right wax for the day.

Is this clinic for you? This clinic is designed for experienced skate skiers looking to improve their technique.  It is recommended that you have been skate skiing for at least 2 seasons and  have the physical fitness to be able to ski for longer than one hour.  You should have a basic understanding of the one-skate, two-skate, free-skate and offset techniques and be able to distinguish between them.  You must also be able to bring a full set of skate ski gear to all of the lessons.

Instruction: The course is provided and run by CANSI Level 3 instructor Brent Maguire, and assisted by CANSI Level 1 instructor Barbara Robertson.

Cost: $140.00.    Participants must be a member of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club.

Registration: Due to limited space, registration will take place at 8:30am Saturday December 3, 2011 at the Otway Nordic Centre office.  You must register in person. No early registrants.

Dates: December 10th, 2011 – Feb 4th, 2012, Saturdays 8:30 am - 10:00 am. There will be eight on-snow lessons in total. In case of cold weather cancellations missed sessions will be added on after February 4th(There will be no clinic on Dec 24th but clinics will resume as usual on Dec 31st)

Cold Weather Policy: Lessons will be postponed when the projected high for the day on the Environment Canada website is -21 or lower.

Refund Policy: Missed lessons will not be refunded.  If you cancel your registration before December 10, 2011 and your spot can be filled you will be given a full refund.  If we are not able to fill your spot you will not be refunded.
