The Machine Shed was one of our larger more recent Projects

The short-term financial priorities of the club change over time. Several years ago our focus was on improvement of the trails and purchase of a larger Piston Bully. Next came an expansion of the lighting system and repairs to the original system to provide nearly 6 km of safely lit trails. Today we have wide, well groomed, lit trails and good grooming equipment.

We needed to: 1)Protect our machines from the environment and increase their useful life and 2) provide a heated service area for machine maintenance and repairs. At the October, 1997 club executive meeting, it was decided that a 1,200 square foot service building should become the short-term priority of the club.

During the summer of 1999, The new machine shed was erected. Under the expert guidance of Tony Heinzman and Jim Weed, contracts for siding, insulation, drywalling were negotiated to get the best value. Voluntarily, Tony, Jim and Rudi Kamstra got all mucked up with the cement for the foundation and with their toys of trade did the framing along with Len Storey and his son Clayton--many thanks on behalf of the members. A thankyou to Mel Dery (electrical) and Mike Gilhooly (heating) for giving the club reasonable rates on their contract.

The new building may allow the current machine shed to become a waxing facility. The lower cabin might be refurbished and available for general usage. This short-term focus did not change the long-term priority of cabin expansion.
